What is Change Management?
Change Management, in simplistic terms, is a structured process for applying techniques and tools to manage the people side of change to achieve a project’s desired results with minimal disruption or negative impact. Research has proven that in order for changes to be successful and stick, we must prepare the people navigating the change to ensure adoption, utilization and proficiency. Otherwise, the desired outcomes and return on investment will not be achieved.
Change Management is more than “warm and fuzzy”!
There is nothing “warm and fuzzy” about Change Management! Change is hard! Therefore, Change Management is necessary to achieve business outcomes in a shorter timeframe and engaging the people to adopt utilize and become proficient in owning the change.
Prosci research shows that fair to excellent Change Management results in:
Project objectives are 3x to 6x times more likely to be met or exceeded.
Project budgets are 62% to 81% more likely to be on or under budget.
Project schedules are 32% to 71% more likely to be on or ahead of schedule.
Supporting people through their change journey from the current to the future state and understand what is needed to embrace and adopt the change greatly increases the likelihood of project success.
A flexible, structured approach is necessary.
Organizational changes are often a challenging journey.
Endeavor believes that change should happen WITH your people, not TO them. We rely on our 30 plus years of change experience and utilization of Prosci’s ADKAR methodology to help navigate your change journey. Our approach focuses on the human factors that must be in place to change behaviors, workplace culture and to support the transformation you’re seeking.
In addition to ADKAR, Endeavor follows a three-step process:
Preparation Phase – helps us learn what your success needs to look like before we prepare a plan to address your change needs.
Execute Phase – Change Management, Communication Plans and ADKAR are used to prepare and equip your people for the change.
Sustain Phase – evaluates change performance, determines what initiatives remain, what additional change activities are needed to make the changes stick and help transition ownership to the business.
Endeavor’s people focused approach will help your employees successfully navigate the change, resulting in an increased speed of adoption, utilization, proficiency and help achieve your ROI goals.
Why is Change Management important?
Change is necessary for companies to remain competitive and grow. Change Management is the key driver behind successful adoption, utilization, and proficiency of change within the business. It allows employees to understand the change and work effectively through it, which also benefits your customers and your profitability.
Organizations are facing faster and more complex changes than ever before and the need for Change Management continue to increase. At Endeavor, our 30 plus years of global change management experience can help. We can assess your initiative to determine the magnitude of the change, identify the impacted groups, areas of resistance and risks and prepare a game plan that will maximize employee adoption, utilization and proficiency.
Is your organization resistant to change?
Have you heard questions and comments like these when starting new initiatives?
“Great, here comes the latest flavor of the day!”
“How many times are we going to change how we do this?”
“I hope this works better than the last implementation!”
“Why in the world are we doing this and how will this benefit me?”
Chances are, you have. Your organizations’ resistance to change can make or break your initiative. The question is not IF you will encounter resistance but rather WHEN you will encounter resistance.
Research supports the importance of managing resistance. A Prosci research study conducted in 2020 revealed the most resistant groups in an organization are mid-level managers followed, coincidently, by front line employees, who happen to be impacted by mid-level managers.
To identify and address resistance and risk, it is critical to first determine the magnitude of the change and identify the impacted groups / departments. Once the impacts, risk and areas of resistance are identified, a change plan will be created to address them.
